Competitors are challenged to create a 3d video game using an SDK provided by Microsoft (teams of two allowed). All students who register to compete get a free copy of Microsoft Visual Studio .NET. The grand prize for the competition is $8000, and Microsoft will be flying the top 6 teams to the finals in Yokohama Japan! From looking at the website, it looks like you're given an SDK that contains a 3D game engine and various sample projects and tools. The idea is that you use Visual Studio .NET 2003 to create an AI which performs various tasks by controlling a team of nanobots. Although you don't need to use Visual Studio and can use other enviroments, they do recommend that you use it. There seesm to be various restrictions on your programs too, eg. no multithreading. Anyway, it looks interesting, I may well download it myself to find out more about what they want the AI to do. Visit http://www.buzztone.com/imaginecup2005/bclick.asp?sel=b8&ori=32 to watch the Imagine Cup trailer, learn more about the competition, and register to compete. 1st place receives $8,000 2nd place gets $4,000 3rd wins $3,000 Important Dates: First deadline is March 1st |
