Well, now, the public will get just a little bit more of the RPG action. Released by DreamCatcher, Harbinger is a SCI/FI based RPG game which has been predicted to be a very addictive game due to it’s real-time hack-and-slash battles. The characters and plot have been given that extra twist. Instead of the anciently invented wizards and barbarians, Harbinger has the 23rd Century cyborgs and aliens. The game also features an incredibly complex plot with an equally complex background story. One of the most amazing twists to the story is that instead of exploring the medieval castles of the old age, you walk through a slave ship known only as Harbinger. Through the many centuries Harbinger (which is larger than many of the small planets in the universe) captured slaves from many different races. Nearly all of those who were captured were either sent off to the ship’s gruesome work camps or used as test “lab rats” for hideous experiments. However, there those very few who have been able to escape through the deserted, far corners of the ship. These people from many races created their own society. In this game, you control either a human, a gladiator (a massive robot with the consciousness of a human) or a culibine (a member of an alien race). In addition, the different characters have different stories, different dialogue, different interactions with other characters, and different quests. The missions change from character to character, such as repairing the ship’s hull, replenishing critically low supplies and finding missing people. Depending on different races, some may offer more quests and some may even refuse to speak to you. The aim of Harbinger is to take the hack-and-slash action from Diablo 2 and mix it with a hugely complex story and several different quests which differ from character to character. When it is released in February, the world will finally see whether Harbinger is all everyone has said it is… |
