Well, it’s back – bigger and better than before. SimCity 4 was due to be released late 2001, but after the hit The Sims came out, EA decided to delay the release until Mid-January 2003. The basic run down of the game is that you create a city, finance it, and keep it up and running. Just to flavour the game a little, the programmers added a feature called godmode. This allows you to make a disaster happen. Now, you will remember that with every version of SimCity that has come out, you can make any sort of disaster happen. However, where the godmode feature becomes unique is that you can control the disasters. For example, let’s say that you make a tornado come down onto your city. You can then control the tornado to go where you want it to until you decide Simsville has had enough. Another feature of SimCity 4 is that you can control the view of the city much easier than before. The programmers created a view like the points of a compass. You have the power to control the views of East, South, North and West. That is, 4 different views of your city. The game’s producer stated, “Having a free camera (a full 360 view) would have made the requirements three times as demanding.” Also, you can zoom into Simsville 5 times. EA hopes that SimCity 4 will run on most systems as people have complained that their computer or computer graphics were not fast enough to keep up with the machine. The minimum system requirements is a Pentium 3 500 MHz system with a 16MB graphics card. As each SimCity version came out, the public response was overwhelming. Even though The Sims is one of the most popular games out at the moment, SimCity 4 will be no different. |
