The rest of the world should be able to buy it by the 29th of November. The release dates for the PC version are 22nd of January 2003 for the US and the 31st of January 2003 for the rest of the world. However, Splinter Cell is already well known in Paris, France where it was named Overall Best Game of ECTS 2002 – Europe’s premier trade show for interactive entertainment. The basic story line of the action/arcade game is that you are Sam Fisher, hired by the NSA (National Security Agency). The CIA (Central Investigation Agency) contacted NSA officials regarding the loss of CIA Agent Alison Madison who was placed in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia (Europe) to monitor widespread communications shortages in the country. Another CIA agent, Agent Blaustein was then placed in Georgia with orders to find Agent Madison. The CIA lost contact with Agent Blaustein 7 days later. The CIA believed that a terrorist organisation has captured these agents. It wants the NSA to send someone in to rescue these agents, and the NSA chose Sam Fisher – you. UBI Soft published and developed Splinter Cell. UBI Soft’s Managing Director for Europe, South America, and Asia Pacific, Alain Corre, said, “The game is still winning great praise wherever it is shown. This latest award confirms our conviction that we have created the game that will strike the world of video games. It also illustrates the relevancy of our long term strategy of in-house development for games with a worldwide scope”, he said, “Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell™ is poised to establish the new reference of action games.” No matter what the public’s response is, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell is already a success. |
