News Article Title : New Prince of Persia Game and Prince of Persia Movie? Exclusive News! Category : General Gaming Date Added : 2004-04-01 15:26:57 Written By : Silvia Chang As the multi-Game Developer Choice Award winner (including the Game of the Year Award) of 2004, the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time development team received a tremendous amount of recognition in this year’s Game Developers’ Conference. Interested in the success of the Prince of Persia development team, I went to the lecture by Yannis Mallat, a producer in Ubisoft. Yannis stated that the success in making this game is based on outstanding risk management, the wonderful collaboration of animation and AI engineers, large amount of team motivation, and a carefully developed 3D editing and tools. From this game, the team also had learned their mistakes from having a late-coming of art director, fuzzy validation, overwhelming enemies, and not enough data control. The audiences of the lecture also were told by Yannis that there will be a Prince of Persia movie in the future. Ubisoft is now looking for casts and director to make a movie based on Sands of Time. No further information on the movie was released. After the lecture, I asked Yannis some questions regarding the Prince of Persia storyline: Since the storyline of Sands of Time is so different from the first and second Prince of Persia games—are they all suppose to be the same prince? Yannis: If you want them to be… actually, yes they are. Sands of Time is the story precedes the first Prince of Persia game. There is a gap of time in between the two games, which we don’t know what happened… actually, WE know… Does that mean you are coming out with a new Prince of Persia game base on that time frame? Yannis: I can’t say more about it. That pretty much hints the up-coming Prince of Persia game. As for now, myself and the rest of the Prince of Persia fans will be looking forward to the new Prince of Persia productions. |
