Microsoft had recently developed a new graphic engine named XNA. The purpose of XNA is to provide architects fluid and detailed graphic so the developers can focus more time on creativity rather than technicality. Therefore, the next generation developers can create both amazing graphic and story in a reasonable amount of time. While Microsoft focus on high tech graphic engines, Sony presents its upcoming PSP (PlayStation Portable). PSP is said to have comparable quality with PS2, aimed at the global audience and provides wireless multiplayer capability. PS2 is also coming out with more games for the EyeToy (and American Idol reject William Hung was invited by Sony to demonstrate one of the games, which caused the entire Sony team being mobbed by fans after the keynote). As for the award show, Ubisoft turned out to be the big winner of this year’s Game Developers’ Choice Award with Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. BioWare Corp came in second with Star Wars: Knights Of the Old Republic. The First Penguin Award was given to the innovative Masaya Matsuura, the maker of Parappa The Rapper and Dance Dance Revolution. The Lifetime Achievement award was given to the multi-talented Mark Cerny of the Cerny Games, also the creator of Marble Madness and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
