News Article Title : Wicked New $399 Price Tag Category : Xbox NZ Date Added : 2003-05-22 12:54:31 Xbox 'Price Drop' Xbox - still the best value for money! New lower prices on Xbox consoles see the suggested retail price of the world's most powerful video games system drop by $100 tomorrow (May 23) to $399. Xbox marketer Microsoft New Zealand says the move is in line with new international prices for the console announced last week in the United States at E3, the big consumer electronics show in Los Angeles. "The video games market is highly competitive and we have always said we would meet the market," says Xbox New Zealand marketing manager Wilf Robinson. "In Xbox we have some excellent exclusive built-in features such as the hard drive - no memory card needed to save games, the most powerful graphics processor of any game console and real-time Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. For the future, an ethernet broadband port - no network adaptor needed for online gaming.. "We owe it to our customers to stay price competitive. Our commitment is to providing the best system with superior features at the best price. At $499 SRP, Xbox was the best value home entertainment product available. Now at $399 SRP, the Xbox offer is even more compelling." Mr Robinson says the $49.95 Hot Box deal - worth more than $300 in SRP added value - remains in place. The deal features an Xbox DVD Remote Control, copies of the award winning games, Halo(tm) and Amped(tm) - both exclusive to Xbox- $100 worth of game vouchers in the form of cash-back offers and three Video Ezy game rental vouchers. "We're also continuing the popular Classics range of games at $59.95 each and we expect to be able to expand this range from the original 12 games very soon." Currently there are 190 Xbox games available to retailers in New Zealand and Mr Robinson says there will be at least 250 available by Christmas. "There is something for everyone on Xbox." |
