Title : Star Wars: The Clone Wars Xbox Preview Date Added : 2003-03-15 02:05:21 Written By : Joshua Minchenko While already released for PlayStation 2 and GameCube, The Clone Wars is now headed for X-Box. Many people are concerned that it is just the same as the other platforms released; however LucasArts and Pandemic Studios have altered a few key areas. Depending on the mission, you play the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Mace Windu. The Jedi under your hand have access to wide variety of vehicles on the battlefield. Also, seen at the end of Episode II, the gunship is included along with many other vehicles recognizable by Star Wars fans. Remember the AT-ST of earlier films? Well, in some missions, you can control the AT-XT, a two-legged walker that resembles the AT-SR. Other controllable vehicles include a speeder bike, a hovertank and the flying STAP platforms (in the movies: controlled by droids - in the game: controlled by you). Each vehicle has an arsenal of weapons to stop the advancing hordes with standard lasers, concussion missiles, energy grenades, and many others. Targeting has been made much easier with an auto-locking system. When you move your crosshairs near a targetable enemy, it will automatically lock onto that enemy and stay locked (as long as you keep it within the enemy’s general vicinity). Already anticipated, the game screen and visuals have been dramatically improved, compared to its earlier versions. Overall, the game's resolution has improved somewhat and the look and feel of it seems to have sharpened and cleaned up a little. Also different from it’s PS2 and GameCube versions, is that the frame rate has increased, consequently creating a smoother interface. And the one thing that identifies this game as different from it’s other versions, is that it comes complete with X-Box Live Support. If you’re one of those fans that love Episode II and vehicle combat, then Star-Wars: The Clone Wars is for you. The critics agree that Star-Wars: The Clone Wars is shaping up to be the best version yet. It should be reaching our stores sometime late March-early April. |
